Primal Desires 6mm Hempex® Shibari Rope made with 3 strands and is a strong but lightweight synthetic rope with the appearance and feel of a natural hemp rope. This rope is strong and durable being heat and flame resistant with low stretch, soft feel, enhanced UV resistant properties and a breaking strength of 519Kg. It is an ideal rope for the beginner or the more experienced rope enthusiast who prefers to work with rope that looks and feels like natural fibre but avoids the issues natural fibre can have such as causing skin and sinus reactions and not being washable.

Custom lengths are available upon request with bulk orders at $2.90 per metre for a minimum of 25 metres.

The standard finish on rope ends is for the tips to be heated and then pushed and moulded under pressure to form a smooth dome however the ends can also be knotted as per natural fibre rope or whipped with a polyester thread in a selection of colours to differentiate lengths easily. Hempex® does not need conditioning however a softer and more flexible rope, soaking the rope in warm water for 30 minutes to 1 hour will loosen the fibres with the added advantage of making it look exactly like unconditioned hemp but without all of the “flurries” and need to continually recondition.

** Breaking strains are based on manufacturer load testing. These should be used as an indication ONLY. Rope must be tested for specific uses. Breaking strain is NOT the Safe Working Load. Variations up to 25% can occur with poor splicing or short lengths. Working load must never exceed 20% of the Break strength specified. Never allow product to come in contact with sharp edges under load. Neither Primal Desires nor its suppliers will in any circumstances be liable for any damages arising out of the improper use of the product.

FUN FACT: Hempex® is so realistic in comparison to natural hemp rope that it is often used as a substitute on older sailing vessels with far less issues of breakage and deterioration in hostile environments.
