Description

Looking for a kit of rope?

6mm Polyester VB (Single Braid) Shibari Rope Kits are available in a range of different standard, UV colours and custom colours, made of marine grade polyester with 8 individual braids and no interior core to enhance flexibility and flatness for decorative tying. While this rope is strong and durable enough for Shibari suspension work, we do not recommend it to be used for this purpose due to the ability for this rope to pull tight against the body. It is however very flexible for floor work or just as something to tie your consenting playmate to the nearest bed post. With the many available colours and its unique qualities, this rope is excellent for decorative tying and can even be stitched together to hold its shape long term. It is ideal rope for beginners or the more experienced rope enthusiast who does not want to work with natural fibre rope or for those who may have allergies or reactions triggered by natural fibres. Can be used outdoors and washes easily (refer to Important Info tab for additional notes about outdoor use, washing and maintenance).

The standard finish on rope ends is for the tips to be melted into a smooth dome however the ends can also be whipped with a polyester thread in a selection of colours to differentiate lengths easily.

Want a kit with different colours?

We are fully aware that not everyone ones to do rope with just one colour or maybe you just want to see what looks best for you. If you want to tell us you want 2 ropes of one colour and 3 of another with your short ropes another colour again, please provide the information on the checkout page in the order notes section under your billing and delivery addresses. A good example of how to tell us clearly what you specifically want might be:

  • 2 x 9m Cherry Red (VB)
  • 3 x 9m Pitch Black (VB)
  • 2 x 9m Royal Purple (VB)
  • 1 x 9m Electric Blue (DB)
  • 1 x 9m UV Yellow (DB)
  • 2 x 5m Traditional/Creme (VB)

If you are after some custom colours mixed in, we do ask that you please order at least 3 lengths of your chosen colour to help us keep overheads low and less impact on the environment when we dye your rope to order. Custom colours exclude our Rainbow ropes and patterned ropes. You may however, choose to have one or more ropes in our Double Braid (DB) style of rope included as part of the kit. Just place (DB) after the rope length and colour as shown above. DB ropes are also available in custom colours.

General Care Info

Outdoor Use

When used outdoors, it is strongly recommended to run the rope over a smooth surface such as a weight-rated carabiner connected to a rope sling or use a towel or cloth folded a couple of times to shield the rope from rubbing on rough or sharp edges. While the rope is UV resistant, you may experience some colour fading especially on UV Pink, UV Orange and custom colours.

Rope Washing & Maintenance

Always check the rope before and after use for damage especially when used over sharp or rough edges or in conjunction with other implements such as candles, knives, scissors and even long finger nails. Wash in a mild detergent lukewarm water and then rinse thoroughly until all soap suds are washed away. Hang and allow to air dry. Please note: Its best to air dry out of direct sunlight due to some colours fading in the sun This mostly pertains to the darker colours and UV Pink and UV Orange.
